A lecture on World War II used for my survey courses. It covers both the experience of soldiers on the frontlines and those back on the home front. Based primarily upon the chapters “the American War Machine” and Overseas” from Michael Adam’s The Best War Ever, as well as the chapters “The War at Home” and “Toward the Automatic Factory” from David F. Noble’s book Forces of Production. In addition, I use film clips and historical footage to help emphasize certain points. Of the clips, I would most recommend you check the full lecture by Norbert Wiener which I use an excerpt of at the end.
I am going to provide another lecture for free and put the one after that behind the paywall. Below is poll to vote for which you would like released next.
